The City of Campbelltown, located in the Macarthur region of south-western Sydney, New South Wales, Australia, spans an area of 312 square kilometers (120 sq mi). Situated approximately 55 kilometers (34 mi) south-west of the Sydney central business district, it was founded in 1820 and named after Elizabeth Macquarie née Campbell, wife of Governor Lachlan Macquarie.

Originally incorporated on 21 January 1882, the present boundaries of the City of Campbelltown were largely formed in 1949 through the amalgamation of the Municipalities of Ingleburn and Campbelltown. Campbelltown was designated as a satellite city and regional capital for the southwest of Sydney in the early 1960s.

On 4 May 1968, Campbelltown was declared a city, coinciding with the arrival of the first electric train from Sydney. The city also honored the 1st Signals Regiment with the Freedom of the City, recognizing their contribution to the community.

The Campbelltown Arts Centre, established in 2005, is a cultural facility partially funded by the New South Wales Government through Create NSW. The mayor of the City of Campbelltown is Cr. George Greiss, representing the Liberal Party.
